Self-development & Therapies > WORKSHOPS > RelaxationRelaxation TechniquesThis workshop would be good for you if:-
How many times has someone told you to just relax? If you are like most of us, you have heard this suggestion quite a few time. And yet no one has bothered to tell you how to go about doing this. Our society teaches us everything we need to know and then some about how to create goals and how to work to deadlines and how to do almost anything. But we are not every good in the West as putting things down and letting things go. And that is the essential part of relaxation that most of us have the hardest time accomplishing. In this workshop, I will introduce you to a wealth of tried and tested techniques for learning to let go, and thus relaxing. Some of the techniques will be simple and you will be able to do them sitting at your desk or in the car. Others will take more time and an environment with no distractions. I think we all benefit from having a good range of relaxation techniques that work for us - because as with all things in life, some methods will appeal to you and feel more comfortable to you than others. This is fine. I will introduce you to loads of techniques and discuss how you might use them to make your life more pleasant and easy. You then implement them as you are able and comfortable. You may find, as I have done, that there are three or four techniques that really work for you and that you use in different situations. As always with my workshops, I give you some ideas of what might work and you decide which ones (if any) and when you will give them a try. Normally day workshop in small group 3-7 Stress Busting & RelaxationAt the "Stress Busting" workshops and retreats I combine stress management with simple and practical suggestions for improving your quality of life. Stress is a part of all our lives and, as I explain in my article of the same name, stress is not the enemy. What each of us needs to do is to find ways that help us to handle the stress in our lives easily. The best way of doing this is to adopt some simple habits into your daily routine that help you cope with stress on a day to day basis. I will offer you dozens of great and simple suggestions that have been proven to help us meet lifes challenges. You will have a chance to try them and discuss them and then decide which ones appeal to you and fit into your hectic schedule. So many improve your life techniques demand drastic changes over a short period of time. Often these leave you feeling defeated, because it is almost impossible for most of us to keep them up. My strategy toward improving your life is based on making very tiny simple changes that become good habits. And doing this at you own pace - which means that is flexible enough for anyone to use and to succeed. I will provide you with loads of great ideas for no sweat exercises, meditation, detoxification and de-stressing. The only thing you will have to do is to decide which strategies work for you. We will begin by discussing what makes us feels stressed out and why it does, and what we can do to stop this from happening. In order to do this we will be looking at some of the patterns of behaviour we have picked up in our lives that might not be doing us much good - for instance the habit of saying yes, alright when what we mean is no, that is not what I plan to do at the moment. Or the habit of remembering all the dumb things we do and few of the clever ones. I could go on, but you see the point. We all tend to fall into habits that intensify the stress of life. To reduce our stress level to a manageable level we need to replace these destructive habits with ones that make us feel good about ourselves. We also want to look at some nice quick fixes. Because we all sometimes have moments when we think Oh, I really did NOT need this right now - its all too much. And we all have to cope with that too much. In the sessions we will help each other identify our own personal goals, and learn to actually enjoy the stimulation of the stress in our lives. We will support each other as we allow ourselves to take better charge of the intensity of stress we face. We will learn to put things down or away or just out of mind so that we can find the time to restore our energy to the level we need so that life just does not stress us out any more. |
