Self-development & Therapies > WORKSHOPS > Sound, Scent & ColourThis is the newest of our categories, combining sound - in the way of drumming, and singing bowls; scent in terms of using aromatherapy as a tool for balancing your emotions and mental state as well as helping you physically; and the use of colour as a tool to enrich and balance your world. SoundPercussive sound is probably the oldest form of communication between humans. The hypnotic nature of drumming and the deep pull on our psyches of singing bowls and bells are sounds that have been used for ritual, healing and to induce trance and meditation throughout recorded history and before. At the moment, I am exploring the use of drums to help people who have difficulty in meditating. And, I am using singing bowls to help shift energy blocks on the emotional and spiritual levels. Aromatherapy and EmotionsOur sense of smell is one of our older or more primitive senses. And it is linked strongly with emotion. All of us will have experienced being transported back to another time and place when we catch a whiff of a particular smell. It is this area of ourselves that we target when using oils to scent our rooms, and we can learn to manipulate the way we feel by selecting the best combination of oils to use at any particular moment. The focus of the workshop will be on how you respond to each oil - on many different levels. For instance, you might select sandalwood because you suffer from itching skin - which is one of the physical conditions that sandalwood can address. Or you might select grapefruit because you are feeling bitter about some experience that you have had in your life, and grapefruit is suggested as an oil that might help to dispel feelings of bitterness. And of course you will be responding to the oils themselves and how you personally respond to their smell - anything from wrinkling up your nose in disgust to saying - Oh yes, I love this one. The aims of the workshop are:-
Normally 1 day workshop, or over two evenings/afternoons, in small group 3-7 ColourColour is such an integral part of our lives. Even people who are partially colour blind are effected by the energetic signatures of colour. Much research has been done to understand how colours in decor effect our moods and influence our abilities to concentrate, work, and relax. At present, I am in the process of learning more about colour healing with light, and plan to soon be able to offer this as a therapy. |
